Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Assistant Controller to support the financial and accounting operations of the organization. This role partners closely with the Controller and CFO to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient day-to-day accounting functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership potential, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
- Support the Controller in managing daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Help maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
- Support the development and standardization of accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department leaders.
- Coordinate audit preparation and support external auditors during financial reviews.
- Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for tax compliance and reporting.
- Monitor cash flow activities and assist with banking transactions and account management.
- Provide financial analysis, variance reporting, and insights to support leadership decision-making.
- Help implement and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and accounting processes.
- Produce reports, dashboards, and performance analyses for executive leadership.
- Support special projects, cost initiatives, and ROI analysis efforts as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff while helping build a high-performing team environment.
- Bachelor’s degree (CPA or CPA-eligible preferred).
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in a senior accounting, accounting manager, or assistant controller-level role.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership capability and desire to grow into a Controller role.
