Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Drafter to produce accurate, production-ready electrical schematics and diagrams for industrial equipment, including UL switchboards, panelboards, control panels, protection relay panels, skids/platforms, and industrial modular buildings. In this role, you will translate engineering requirements into precise CAD drawings and collaborate with engineers, mechanical drafters, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure designs meet all functional, manufacturing, safety, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate brings strong CAD proficiency, experience in industrial drafting, meticulous attention to detail, and solid understanding of manufacturing and wiring processes.
Job Duties:
Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable routing details, grounding layout plans, and panel schedules for UL switchboards, panelboards, control panels, protection relay panels, industrial skids/platforms, modular buildings, and other industrial equipment.
Develop 2D/3D CAD models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, EPLAN, and other design software as required.
Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements including UL, NFPA (NEC), IEEE, IECC, IEC, ANSI, and customer specifications.
Collaborate with engineers, mechanical drafters, and project managers to clarify design requirements, resolve technical issues, and support project objectives.
Create and maintain electrical Bills of Materials (BOM), parts lists, and coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure accurate material planning.
Revise, update, and manage drawings based on engineering changes, manufacturing modifications, or customer feedback.
Support manufacturing and wiring teams by providing clear, precise drawings, documentation, and technical instructions.
Maintain organized, up-to-date drawing records, revisions, standards, and project documentation.
Assist with assembly layout designs, component placement and related CAD tasks.
Help develop and maintain standard details, templates, and best practices for electrical drafting.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in electrical design, drafting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in electrical drafting for industrial equipment, electrical enclosures, or panel manufacturing environments.
Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN, Inventor, or similar tools.
Knowledge of assembly, wiring, and electrical manufacturing processes.
Understanding of UL standards, NEC requirements, and electrical design best practices.
Familiarity with control panels, protection relay panels, skids, and modular industrial structures.
Strong attention to detail, with effective problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking abilities
U.S. work authorization without sponsorship
Ability to pass drug screening and background checks
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with UL-listed products, industrial modular houses, electrical enclosures, or similar equipment.
3+ years of experience in an engineered-to-order (ETO) manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience with assembly, wiring, and manufacturing processes.
