Job Description – EHS Specialist
Position Overview:
The EHS Specialist supports the implementation and day-to-day execution of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs on electrical construction projects. Working closely with EHS Coordinators, EHS Managers, project leadership, and field personnel, this role helps ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company safety standards.
The EHS Specialist conducts inspections, assists with hazard identification and incident reporting, maintains safety documentation, and supports a proactive safety culture. This position may oversee safety tasks independently on smaller projects or assist on larger projects as part of the site EHS team.
Key Responsibilities:

Ability to travel to project sites as required.
Work Environment
This position requires an active presence on construction sites. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods; navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and ladders; and perform bending, kneeling, and reaching activities. This role may require lifting and carrying materials weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Sufficient visual acuity is required to read plans and documents and to inspect work activities and surrounding conditions. Work may occur outdoors for significant portions of the day, in varying weather conditions, with exposure to loud noise and typical construction-site hazards. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
- Continue professional development by learning, applying, and enforcing company safety programs, applicable OSHA standards, and industry best practices.
- Support implementation of EHS programs across assigned electrical construction projects.
- Conduct routine site safety inspections and observations to identify hazards and verify compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and other project safety documentation.
- Monitor field operations and provide feedback to employees and supervisors regarding safe work practices and hazard controls.
- Assist with toolbox talks, safety orientations, and safety meetings for employees and subcontractors.
- Participate in incident reporting and investigations, including gathering information and assisting with documentation and corrective action tracking.
- Support oversight of high-risk construction activities, including fall protection, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry, and other high-risk activities.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including inspection reports, training documentation, and incident records.
- Assist with preparation of safety reports and documentation required by project leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in project safety meetings and coordinate with field supervision and project management.
- Support implementation of corporate EHS initiatives and safety improvement programs.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture by educating and coaching employees on safety requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- 1–3 years of experience in construction safety, environmental health, or occupational safety roles preferred.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or electrical construction environments is a plus.
- Basic Knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 construction standards and NFPA 70E standard for electrical safety is a plus.
Training / Certifications (Preferred, Not Required):
- OSHA 30-Hour – Construction.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Training.
- Hazard recognition and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and field personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to promote safe behaviors and reinforce company safety expectations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
Ability to travel to project sites as required.
