Job Description:
Hays Electrical Services is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and processing payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage laws, and the ability to ensure accurate and timely payroll for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process weekly payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Maintain payroll records and prepare necessary reports, including certified payroll reports.
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in accordance with government contract requirements.
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws and labor compliance regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records, including tax forms, direct deposit information, and benefits enrollment.
- Track and update wage rates, deductions, and benefits as needed.
- Assist with internal and external payroll audits.
- Generate payroll-related reports for management review.
- Act as the point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
- Liaise with HR and accounting departments to ensure seamless payroll integration.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, with a focus on certified payroll reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, prevailing wage laws, and compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP, or similar systems).
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred:
- Certification in payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional, Fundamental Payroll Certification).
- Experience in the construction or electrical services industry.
