Position Overview

5K Specialty Systems is seeking a Commercial Security Systems / CCTV Estimator to support the growth of our low-voltage and security division. This role will be instrumental in expanding our footprint across commercial, multifamily, and mission-critical environments, with a focus on CCTV, access control, and integrated security solutions.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on estimating experience in low-voltage/security systems, strong technical knowledge of camera systems, access control platforms, and structured cabling, and the ability to translate drawings and specs into accurate, competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for commercial security systems including:

  • CCTV / video surveillance systems

  • Access control systems

  • Intrusion detection / alarm systems

  • Structured cabling (low-voltage infrastructure)

• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate scopes and pricing.

• Analyze system layouts, device counts, head-end equipment, and infrastructure requirements.

• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to:

  • Clarify scope

  • Identify value engineering opportunities

  • Strengthen bid strategy

• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.

• Maintain and update:

  • Pricing databases

  • Vendor relationships

  • Historical cost data

• Support design-build and preconstruction efforts, providing input on constructability and system design.

• Participate in client meetings, site walks, and pre-bid conferences as needed.

• Assist in building and refining estimating processes, tools, and workflows for the security division.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of estimating experience in:

  • CCTV / video surveillance

  • Access control

  • Low-voltage / security systems

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Security system components and architecture

  • Camera types (IP, analog, PoE)

  • Access control hardware/software platforms

• Experience with systems such as:

  • Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone, Honeywell, Bosch (or similar)

• Ability to read and interpret:

  • Construction drawings

  • Low-voltage schematics

  • Division 27/28 specifications

• Proficient with: Estimating tools and digital plan rooms

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Self-starter with a growth mindset and ownership mentality

Preferred Experience

• Experience estimating large-scale commercial or multifamily projects

• Exposure to data centers / mission-critical environments

• Design-build or preconstruction experience

• Existing relationships with low-voltage vendors and distributors
