Position Overview
The General Superintendent (GS) is responsible for the overall field execution and operational leadership of assigned multifamily and commercial projects. The GS ensures safe, high-quality, and productive performance by managing field operations, enforcing company standards, and driving labor efficiency. This role acts as the key liaison between Superintendents, Foremen, Project Management, and Field Operations leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with Hays Electrical’s KPIs, WIGs, and cultural initiatives.

The General Superintendent (GS) is responsible for the overall field execution and operational leadership of assigned multifamily and commercial projects. The GS ensures safe, high-quality, and productive performance by managing field operations, enforcing company standards, and driving labor efficiency. This role acts as the key liaison between Superintendents, Foremen, Project Management, and Field Operations leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with Hays Electrical’s KPIs, WIGs, and cultural initiatives.
Leadership & Oversight
- Directly manage Superintendents and Foremen across assigned projects.
- Oversee manpower planning, scheduling, and allocation in coordination with the FOM and Project Management.
- Mentor and coach Superintendents and Foremen to build leadership capabilities and ensure consistent execution.
- Hold field teams accountable to labor plans, production trackers, and company expectations.
- Oversee daily field operations, ensuring alignment with project schedules, scopes, and specifications.
- Coordinate with PMs and FOM on project startup, execution strategies, and closeout.
- Ensure effective implementation and use of project tools: Procore (observations, QA/QC, documentation), Bluebeam (markups), Open Space (progress tracking), and labor trackers.
- Actively participate in project alignment meetings, startup/kickoff sessions, and closeout reviews.
- Enforce QA/QC standards through Superintendent oversight and regular field walks.
- Drive compliance with OSHA regulations, Hays safety policies, and site-specific requirements.
- Identify and correct quality deficiencies proactively to reduce rework and repeat punch-list items.
- Ensure all installations meet NEC and local/state electrical codes.
- Support FOM in labor forecasting, allocation, and mitigation of labor overruns.
- Monitor labor productivity and performance against project budgets.
- Review WIP reports with Superintendents to validate accuracy and performance trends.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to PMs and FOM to resolve cost, schedule, or labor challenges.
- Serve as the bridge between Superintendents, Foremen, and Field Operations leadership.

- Drive consistent implementation of companywide initiatives, including Bootcamps, training, Trailblazer programs, and labor plan usage.
- Maintain professional relationships with GCs, trade partners, and vendors, representing Hays in alignment with company standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to manage diverse teams across multiple projects.
- In-depth knowledge of multifamily and commercial electrical systems, construction sequencing, and installation methods.
- Proficiency in Procore (Trimble), Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and field tracking tools.
- Ability to interpret and enforce project schedules, specifications, and codes.
- Proven ability to resolve conflicts, make decisions under pressure, and maintain discipline in the field.
- Strong organizational skills with focus on labor productivity, forecasting, and accountability.
- 7+ years of electrical construction experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large multifamily or commercial projects ($10M+ scope).
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in manpower planning, labor productivity, and WIP tracking.
- Ability and willingness to travel and oversee multiple projects concurrently.

- Decision-Making Authority: Assignment of field labor, day-to-day operational decisions, enforcement of labor plans, and QA/QC oversight in alignment with company policies.
1. Labor Productivity & Forecasting
- Projects maintained within ±5% of budgeted labor hours.
- Accurate manpower projections and resource allocation in collaboration with FOM.
- 92% of projects achieve or exceed milestone completion dates.
- On-time execution of project startups and closeouts.
- QA/QC compliance rate of 92%+.
