Position Overview:
The Electrical Permits and Licensing Coordinator will manage the permit application process and is responsible for scheduling inspections, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes. This role involves coordinating between contractors, inspectors, and city officials to ensure that all electrical installations are properly permitted, inspected, and documented.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in detail-oriented environments and enjoy working closely with regulatory bodies and project teams to ensure electrical projects run smoothly and remain compliant with municipal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, submit, and track electrical permit applications with municipal and state authorities.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and complies with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
  • Monitor the progress of permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies for timely approvals.
  • Schedule and coordinate inspections with contractors, inspectors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure that inspections are completed following project timelines.
  • Communicate inspection results and required corrections to project managers and contractors.
    Liaise with project managers, municipal and state authorities and gather necessary documents and ensure all requirements are met.
  • Maintain clear communication with city and county inspectors to address any issues or delays in the approval process.
  • Act as the point of contact between project teams and permitting authorities.
  • Maintain organized records of all submitted permits, revisions, and approved documents.
  • Track permit expiration dates and ensure timely renewals or extensions as needed.
  • Generate reports for project managers and stakeholders regarding the status of permits and compliance.
  • Identify any risks or issues that may affect permit approvals and proactively resolve them.
  • Develop and implement the best practices to streamline the permitting process and reduce approval times.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience in permitting, project coordination, or construction administration (experience in electrical projects is preferred, but not required).
  • Familiarity with municipal permitting processes and regulations related to electrical work. (Not required – Must be eager to acquire new knowledge and skills.)
Skills:
  • Strong organizational – detailed -oriented, time-management, and record-keeping.
  • Administrative & Clerical Skills – data entry, documentation, scheduling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and permitting software – not required, but helpful.
  • Problem-solving skills – analytical thinking and proactive approach.

Knowledge:
  • A basic understanding of electrical systems and components is a plus.
  • Familiarity with permit portals and local building codes.
  • Coordinating permits involves managing multiple applications, deadlines, and document submissions. The ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks efficiently is crucial.
  • This role requires frequent interaction with municipal authorities, contractors, and project managers. Being able to communicate clearly and follow up effectively ensures smooth coordination.
  • Must have prior experience navigating the permit application process, including understanding local, state, and federal codes related to electrical work. Familiarity with municipal permitting portals and requirements is essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple permit applications, deadlines, and documentation simultaneously while ensuring attention to detail. Must be able to keep clear, organized records and coordinate effectively with various stakeholders (contractors, inspectors, and project managers).
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with municipal authorities, contractors, and internal teams. The ability to resolve issues proactively, anticipate roadblocks, and maintain professional relationships is crucial for ensuring smooth permit approvals.
