Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the electrical engineering function across multiple projects, overseeing the full lifecycle of electrical systems from concept through commissioning. This role combines technical leadership with team management, ensuring delivery of compliant, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions across a wide range of industrial products including UL switchboards, panelboards, control panels, protection relay systems, industrial skids, modular buildings, and custom-engineered systems.
The Engineering Manager drives engineering excellence, establishes standards and processes, mentors engineering staff, and ensures alignment with customer requirements, regulatory codes, and company objectives..
Job Duties:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure high performance and professional development
Serve as the primary engineering authority, ensuring all designs meet customer requirements and applicable standards (UL, NFPA/NEC, IEEE, IBC, IECC)
Oversee electrical system architecture, design reviews, and approvals across multiple concurrent projects
Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and quality control processes
Ensure integration of electrical systems with mechanical and structural components
Review and approve schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Oversee engineering calculations including load studies, short-circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc flash analysis
Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure proper implementation across projects
Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams
Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet deadlines and budget targets
Contribute to strategic planning, process improvement, and product development initiatives
Provide technical support during fabrication, testing, and commissioning phases
Assist in client interactions, proposals, and technical presentations as needed.
Assist with quoting efforts by providing technical input and design requirements.
Support manufacturing, wiring, and quality teams by delivering clear, precise drawings, documentation, and technical instructions.
Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, ECNs, standards, calculations, and project documentation.
Assist in the creation of mechanical assembly and layout drawings in CAD software.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
8+ years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial or manufacturing environments
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of UL standards (UL508A, UL891), NEC, IEEE, and related codes
Experience with industrial equipment, modular systems, or power distribution products
Proficiency in CAD/eCAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, EPLAN)
Experience with power system studies and protection systems
Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
U.S. work authorization without sponsorship
Ability to pass required drug and background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
UL MTR certification (UL508A and/or UL891)
Experience with power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower)
Protection relay programming experience (SEL, ABB, GE)
Hands-on experience with fabrication, assembly, or field commissioning
PE (Professional Engineer) license or progress toward licensure.
